Aaah…Heartfelt Health

heart PixabayHere we are in February, the month that hosts St. Valentine’s Day; the month when the human heart becomes a main topic of conversation. I pause here to ask you to take a moment to make a fist. That’s right; curl your fingers in together. Take a look at your hand. What you see represents the approximate size of your heart.

The heart is a muscle, the most important muscle in your body, I might add. It is unlike other muscles as you cannot voluntarily control or move it. It is an involuntary, smooth muscle that beats on the average of 70-75 times per minute. The heart is considered your core, the seat of your emotions; it certainly is your lifeline. In our language your ‘beloved’ is referred to as a ‘heartthrob’. Does the heart literally ‘speak up’ to affirm the emotion of love?  I believe so.

Throughout my years of learning about the human body, and its capacity to respond to vibration and sound, I have come to know that specific tones resonate with different organs and general areas. In the case of the heart, the vowel sound “aaah” vibrates in healthy harmony. As I tone “aaah…” the heart region of your body begins to let go of its holding patterns and its blockages to entrain with that vibration, becoming ‘one’, thus ‘remembering’ to align into a healthy state.

“Aaah” is a sound that unifies and connects, and that is how I envision ‘love’. Love begins within the heart. Love creates a state of harmony. Love connects you to you, and thus opens the way for you to truly connect with another. So, I believe that, “yes”, your heart can ‘speak up’ as well as ‘step up’ to affirm connection, to yourself and others.

One of my favorite (and most powerful) ways to work with a client is to tone with sound; literally integrating sound via vocal toning and other tools during a SoundBody therapy session.

Let me explain how it works. Everything is energy. Energy vibrates. It does not matter whether it is a rock, a flower or a person; everything that exists vibrates. Different densities and forms determine the vibratory rate, and whether or not the vibration is audible to the human ear.

As I apply the method of toning, incorporating knowledge of how a healthy, vibrant area should vibrate and thus ‘sound’ – blockages, both emotional and physical, are released. My clients and I never cease to be amazed at how swiftly and effectively this method works.

In this season where love is professed, why not step up to affirm love in yourself? Give yourself and or a loved one the gift of heartfelt health. Aaah.
