Psyched to be Sixty
My, oh my, what a ride it has been
Today is a day to be celebrated through the din.
A NYC born babe, Lenox Hill hospital to be exact,
I have located myself in Mass, by a pre-birth pact.
Blessed to have a brother in the same town as I
Who could have guessed we’d get here via Garden City High?
My other, eldest brother, a wandering professor is he;
Our ups and downs over the years have mellowed us, we see.
With my dear wife these past 23 years, who could have guessed?
We share our home with a big critter family with which we are blessed.
Though my parents and theirs before, have all passed on,
They all live within me, ever so strong.
Friends and family who live and those who are gone,
All serve as examples, a source of joy and support to me, on and on.
My first love, the theatre, served as my premiere career;
In my 30’s I morphed into healing as a profession, a calling to hold dear.
Inspired and mission driven to help others express,
I teach what I need to be reminded of, I guess.
Since today I turn 60, I take the first steps in my 61st year,
Giving thanks to all the lessons to be embraced, marching through fear.
Though this past year brought much upheaval, trauma, trials, tribulations and pain,
Healing and the belief that ‘good shall prevail’ keeps me going and sane.
In receipt of countless gifts of love, and faith in my ability to carry on,
I push forth into new realms, with grace and ease – with a song.
In the works is a healing journey in the form of a play,
Where ‘Ima Myself’, as the centerpiece, is brought to the light of day.
As I segue from ‘touching’ one at a time to many at once,
My dreams dare to come true, to express my wants.
As I reach beyond my comfort zone to enrich both my life and yours,
I thank you for your ear, your support and the opening of doors.
This inevitable change as time effortlessly marches ahead
Lands me at the young age of 60, psyched to move forth, as in faith I am led.
