Remembering ‘Autumn’ drinking in her nightly Reiki treatments

Autumn

Our rabbit, Autumn, moved in with us in August 2003, and passed from this earthly plane in August 2009. During the six years she spent with us in our home she also shared close friendships with six ‘formerly feral’ cat companions. Forrest, Gracey, Georgie, Maisie, Izzie and Tigger draped themselves all around her living space, day and night, sleeping on top of, or next to her cage. Such quiet yet profound friendships…..

Having been neglected in her previous home, Autumn wasn’t the most trusting of people and was barely receptive to handling. Through the years we gradually established a beautiful bond; we both became very comfortable with one another.  I believe the healing energy of Reiki was the major catalyst in her journey to becoming more open, receptive, loving and affectionate.

Being a Reiki practitioner, master and teacher, Reiki is weaved into my professional and everyday life. Autumn was my most ardent Reiki fan. Each night I’d come to her cage and say “Reiki time”, she’d hop over to me, present herself, and I’d lay my hands on her for a good ten to fifteen minutes prior to retiring for the night. She thirstily drank in the love, as did I.

As I practice and teach Reiki, I share her story of acceptance and transformation with a full heart. She will continue to live on in my memory, teachings and daily practice. Sweet dreams, Reiki Bunny…
